Brenda J. Clark Painting Workshops Summer 2011: Adults and Children
07.2011: Brenda J. Clark is offering the following workshops on the back lawn at the gallery's new location in Suttons Bay.

Brenda J. Clark Painting Workshop for Adults: Summer's Bold Strokes
July 25 and 26, 2011 (9:00 a.m. — 4:00 p.m.).

Cost: $300. To register for this class click here.

"No one may quite understand my color choices or my mark making. Yet, I hope that most people develop some feelings from my paintings, and that these feelings stir them to think, examine, and imagine. Such reflection is one of my artistic pursuits, while striving for a subliminal beauty of the paint stroke."

Come enjoy a two-day workshop of painting outside in natural light. The workshop will take place on the back lawn of the Brenda J. Clark Gallery overlooking the Suttons Bay harbor.

Acrylic paint will be used. It is water based and offers transparency and an opaque quality, while allowing for layering of brilliant color during composition. Students and the artist will investigate color observation of ordinary structures within sight, and translate these into mark-making. The days will offer discussion, experimental exercises and the composing of full paintings.

The class will take place from 9:00 a.m. — 4:00 p.m. for 8 people on July 25 and 26, 2011. All levels of artistic skill and understanding are welcome. Coffee will be provided. Bring a sack lunch and any other drinks that you prefer.

Supply list:

Painting board (to hold paper 22 x 30). Keep it portable.

Painting easel or fold up chair for propping painting.

Arches 300lb. paper (22 x 30), 3 sheets: Prefer hot press (smooth). Full sheets of paper will be available to be purchase at the gallery. Or, available at Michaels, art stores on-line, or local Business Helper in Suttons Bay.
