This local farm is poetically beautiful for me to come upon every time I drive around that big sweeping curve on 204 between Suttons Bay and Lake Leelanau. The big field, many barns and extra buildings, tree lines and the orchard lure me in! I finally stopped to paint it after living in Leelanau County for 18 years. One of the brothers of the farm stopped and introduced himself... I was setup along the edge of the road and two-track. He made me feel welcome and told me about the farm. My paintings are about the moment. I dive right in and don't ever dwell on the notion "did I get it right". Keeping my mind-wide open. I hope it shows! (May 21, 2018.)
